He gives you all his advice to succeed in BTS Assurance after a STEM Baccalaureate
What were you doing before the BTS? Which class were you in? In what type of establishment? (High school, CNED…)
Before entering the BTS Assurance, I obtained a STEM Baccalaureate in a high school.
Why did you choose the insurance field? What interests you?
I chose the insurance sector because there are many job opportunities in this field. There are numerous career prospects and potential for career advancement.
Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual insurance company)
I am completing my BTS as initial training, meaning I will undertake a work placement. I am doing my internship at an insurance general agent’s agency.
What advice would you give to a student who wants to pursue studies in insurance?
I recommend doing discovery internships first if possible, as it will help you form an opinion about insurance. To work in insurance, you really need to enjoy this field; you shouldn’t choose insurance by default. Choosing by default often leads to disliking it.
Did you encounter any difficulties when you started? (in class and at work) Which ones?
I entered the BTS the year after the implementation of the reform. This reform changed major subjects such as personal insurance, EEJMA, and property and liability insurance. The professional subjects (insurance) became a bit unclear for teachers and students, and it is also a very heavy subject in my opinion.
Do you think you will do insurance for your whole life? Why?
Yes, I think I will stay in insurance throughout my life because it is a really interesting field for me.
Has there been a big change between high school and the BTS?
No, I haven’t seen a big change from one to the other. They are quite similar.
Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
The most difficult subject for me is professional culture and client relationship, because the curriculum in this subject is very diverse. It goes from law to economics, management to financial mathematics, so at the exam, you don’t know what to expect.
What type of student are you? (Not revising too much with some ease, studying a lot, studying little…)
I am a student who studies a bit with some ease in certain subjects.
Do you have any tips for better learning your lessons?
The best advice I can give is to understand the lesson in your own words. Try explaining the lesson in the simplest way possible, and it will come naturally.
If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?
If I continue my studies, I want to specialize in the digital insurance, as it is a developing field.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
I would love to work abroad to discover new cultures.
