What were you doing before the BTS? What class were you in? What type of institution? (High school, CNED…)
I am currently in Law Faculty 😁 and I did not go through the BTS Insurance.
Why did you choose the insurance world? What interests you?
Insurance is truly a field with great diversity; you can find car insurance (material), bodily auto, construction, property damage… and many other types of insurance.
Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual insurance)
I am in Master 2 in Insurance Law through an alternating program (I am at the headquarters of the French leader 🤫)
What would you advise to a student wanting to start studying insurance?
I recommend staying informed about current events, seeing if the concepts interest us… because insurance can seem complicated if you don’t pay attention to it, and above all, insurers are often viewed negatively (the common criticism heard is insurers = thieves, but that’s not the only one)
Did you encounter difficulties when you started? (in class and at work) Which ones?
No, I didn’t face major difficulties, because I worked part-time at an insurance expertise firm (water damage, theft, etc.), this student job allowed me to see some important insurance concepts.
Do you think you will do insurance for your whole life? Why?
Yes! I aim to become an Insurance Lawyer, because it’s a very varied position!
Was there a big change between high school and the BTS?
I did not do a BTS, but I went through university coursework. Taking notes was what “shocked” me the most when I started Bachelor’s 1. My high school teachers didn’t prepare me at all for that!
Do you find university difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
In my opinion, university is very tough… The number of pages of coursework is really enormous, around 80 Word pages per subject multiplied by the 10 subjects we had per semester.
What type of student are you? (Not studying too much with ease, studying a lot, studying little…)
Easy during high school, and since university it’s completely different because law (and insurance) isn’t innate!
I have long searched for MY method of working. I think I’ve found it, because I am now in Master 2. 😜.
Do you have any tips for better learning your courses?
I recommend “revisiting” your course immediately: reread and correct mistakes on the same day or a few days later, put it in a clean and organized way.
Then read it, reread, reread… Out loud, I personally learn better that way!
I explain my course to an imaginary friend who knows nothing about it. That forces me to explain in my own words simply, and I remember it really well!
If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?
I want to stay in insurance haha, for me a bachelor’s +5 is more than enough.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
Yes, I want to become an Insurance Lawyer
