From a Bac L to claims manager, he gives you his advice for success. We will see in this testimonial a student BTS Insurance with a Bac L.
What were you doing before the BTS? What grade are you in? In what type of institution? (High school, CNED…)
Before the BTS, I obtained a literary baccalaureate and then spent 6 months at university studying art history and archaeology. Not finding it to my liking, I then worked a little over a year as a sales assistant, caterer, pastry chef in a bakery.
Why did you choose the insurance world? What interests you?
I chose insurance completely at random: I was told that this profession was hiring, and since I wanted to resume my studies, I went into it with my eyes closed. I made the right decision to trust my instincts, because now I do a job that I am passionate about.
Are you in work-study or in initial training? And what type of company are you in? (General agent, broker, mutual insurance)
I was in an apprenticeship for two years at the claims reporting center of MAIF in Montpellier.
What would you recommend to a student who wants to get into insurance studies?
If you are looking for a career that is both technical and human, an exciting job that is constantly evolving, with many branches and also well paid, don’t hesitate!
Did you encounter difficulties when you started? (In class and in company) Which ones?
Honestly, I didn’t feel any difficulties except for understanding the exams, because I took the exams in the first year of the reform.
Do you think you will do insurance all your life? Why?
I hope to do it all my life, because it is an exciting, engaging, endearing, and varied profession. I hope to one day succeed in opening my own wealth management firm.
Was there a big change between high school and the BTS?
The advantage of the BTS Assurance is that we remain very supported by trainers, which helps after obtaining a high school diploma.
Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
By really listening to the courses, daring to ask questions, and showing interest, the BTS assurance is accessible; it is not difficult.
What type of student are you? (Not studying too much with ease, studying a lot, studying little…)
I am lucky to have always had an aptitude for studying; I didn’t study at all, but I listened very carefully to the lessons, which allowed me to retain the concepts easily.
Do you have any tips for better learning your courses?
Don’t hesitate to watch explanatory videos about laws, etc., on YouTube.
If you continue your studies, what will you specialize in?
I did not continue. I stopped my studies after the BTS Assurance.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
I am currently claims manager at a large Axa agency where I am fully satisfied and I want to continue as a corporate claims manager or wealth manager.
Do you have anything to add?
I find the Instagram account very complete and practical for fun revision!
