From a high school S stream to a BTS Insurance, whatever your previous education, you have the opportunity to join a BTS Insurance if you are motivated!
What did you do before the BTS? Which class are you in? What type of establishment? (High school, CNED…)
I was in a high school, I took a Science Baccalaureate. I am in my first year of BTS Insurance at a high school.
Why did you choose the insurance world? What interests you?
Customer relations combined with calculations and the thinking behind each situation that requires a lot of knowledge.
Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you with? (General agent, broker, mutual insurance)
I am currently in initial training, meaning I will have an internship at the end of the year.
What would you advise, to students wanting to get into insurance studies?
Be sure you are motivated; you need to be committed to this kind of training because every detail is important in the course.
Did you encounter difficulties when you started? (In class and at work) Which ones?
No, no particular difficulties, the courses are accessible to everyone, and at the company, it’s difficult at the beginning, but the more time passes, the more we adapt to the working world.
Do you think you will do insurance throughout your life? Why?
Yes, I plan to do insurance all my life because I am comfortable in this field and I find it very interesting.
Has there been a big change between high school and the BTS?
For me, I have much less homework at home. Teachers give us free time to learn our courses well because the knowledge we need in insurance, whether it’s in MRH, auto, liability, or personal insurance, is very heavy.
Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
No, I don’t think they are difficult if you listen carefully in class. The most difficult subject would be professional culture because there is a lot to learn.
What kind of student are you? (Not revising too much with ease, revising a lot, revising little…)
I don’t revise a lot because I have an ease, but I push myself to do it for the exams and I often get good grades.
Do you have any advice for better learning your courses?
I think you just need to try to understand them well, and not necessarily memorize by heart.
If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?
I don’t really know yet; it’s a very broad field.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
I want to become a general agent and manage my or my agencies.
Do you have anything to add?
I think that the BTS Insurance is accessible to everyone, the small class size makes the courses very pleasant, and it’s not more difficult than others if you are motivated to succeed.
