Testimonial 19: Student in BTS Insurance who previously attended a STMG baccalaureate

Student who completed a STMG baccalaureate in an euro section with an HR option. Find the testimonial of a student currently in BTS Insurance.

What were you doing before the BTS? What grade are you in? In what kind of establishment? (High school, CNED…)

I am currently enrolled in a banking and insurance training program, but before that, I obtained a STMG (Science and Technologies of Management and Business) baccalaureate in an euro section with an HR (Human Resources) option.

Why did you choose the insurance industry? What interests you about it?

I chose this sector because the activities are very broad. It is also a highly diverse sector, so it’s possible to change careers while remaining within insurance.

Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual insurance)

I am currently in work-study in a mutual insurance company. I hold the position of mutualist advisor.

What advice would you give to a student wanting to start studies in insurance?

My only advice is “Hang in there,” because in my opinion, it’s a fairly complex BTS. Stick with it especially at the beginning, as everything you learn is new, but over time and with practice, it will be much easier.

Did you encounter difficulties when you started? (in class and in the company) Which ones?

I had difficulties at the beginning adapting to the professional world. I also struggled with the rhythm of alternating school and company, because it was a new way of learning.

Do you think you will do insurance for your whole life? Why?

No, I don’t plan to do insurance my whole life; I want to explore other fields like social work, for example.

Was there a big change between high school and the BTS?

Yes, I experienced a change. In BTS, you are more independent. You are an adult, and there is less supervision than in high school; you’re being prepared for the professional world.

Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?

What I find the most difficult is Claims Management!!

It’s difficult because you must know the calculation methods, and to score the maximum points, you need to learn many articles of law from the insurance code or the Civil Code.

What kind of student are you? (Not studying too much with ease, studying a lot, studying little…)

Average student lol I study without overdoing it, but now I’m trying to work hard.

Do you have any tips for better learning your lessons?

Without a doubt: organization!

If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?

I don’t know yet…
