Témoignage 4 : Graduate of a Master’s in Finance with a BTS in Insurance

Partager

Here is the testimonial of a student currently in a Master’s in Finance who took a BTS Assurance and a professional license in banking and finance.

What class are you in? What studies did you do before that?

I have a degree in a Master’s in Finance. Before my Master’s, I obtained a BTS in insurance and then followed it with a license in banking and finance.

What training did you do through work-study?

The Master’s in finance and the banking and finance qualifications were done through alternance. However, the BTS Assurance was not in work-study, but I had one day per week in the company plus internships during the two years.

What kind of student are you? (Revising a lot, little, with ease…)

I am more of an easy student, but in difficult subjects, I review minimally.

Do you remember the difficulties you faced when starting your BTS assurance? And what were those difficulties?

Yes, I mainly struggled during my first semester because I didn’t understand much at the beginning, especially everything related to IARD.

What was your favorite subject?

I don’t really remember, but if my memory serves me well, it was more the part about damage insurance and bodily insurance, notably the Badinter law.

In which subjects did you have the most difficulty? (license, master)

For the license, no subject; I had an average of 14.5 without studying. In the master’s, market finance and management control.

Did you encounter difficulties when entering the license? Is there a big change between the BTS and the license?

Honestly, not at all, because I did very little insurance, but much more banking.

Yes, it’s a big change, because it’s more comprehensive, it was a good transition honestly.

Why didn’t you choose a specialized insurance license, such as the recommended license for managers or underwriters in insurance?

Unfortunately, in Paris, it didn’t exist, I believe. Also, since banks market insurance products, for me, the ideal was to have both skills. Insurers also market banking products, as we can see with AXA Bank.

Now that you’ve finished your studies, what are you doing?

I am currently in Dubai. I am there to improve my English and Arabic with the goal of being able to serve a wider client base. I do not plan to work in Dubai right now, but soon.

Do you think you will work in insurance all your life?

Wow, that’s a very, very good question. Honestly, I can’t answer that now.

Do you already have an ideal career plan?

Not at all. Unfortunately, I learned that career plans don’t really mean anything, especially in large companies and our sector. You just need to have the most relevant skills and degrees to qualify for important positions and advance quickly.

I hope that the testimonial of this student currently in a Master’s in Finance has shown you a possible path after the BTS Assurance.
