Here is the testimonial of a student currently pursuing a Master’s in Finance who went through a BTS Insurance and a professional license in Banking and Finance.
What class are you in? What studies did you do before that?
I hold a master’s degree in finance. Before my Master’s, I obtained a BTS in insurance and then continued with a license in banking and finance.
What training did you do as part of an apprenticeship?
The master’s in finance and the banking and finance license were completed through apprenticeship. However, the BTS Insurance was not an apprenticeship program, but I had one day a week in the company in addition to the internships during the two years.
What type of student are you? (Studying a lot, little, with ease…)
I am more of a student with natural ease, but in difficult subjects, I study minimally.
Do you remember the difficulties you faced when you started your BTS insurance? And what were those difficulties?
Yes, I mainly faced difficulties during my first semester because I didn’t understand much at first, especially everything related to IARD.
What was your favorite subject?
I don’t remember exactly, but if my memory serves me correctly, it was more the part about damage insurance and bodily injury insurance, especially the Badinter law.
In which subjects did you have the most difficulties? (license, master’s)
For the license, no subject in particular; I had an average of 14.5 without studying. In the master’s, it was marketing finance and management control.
Did you encounter difficulties when entering the license? Is there a big change between the BTS and the license?
Honestly, not at all, because I did very little in insurance, but much more in banking.
Yes, it’s a significant change because it’s more comprehensive; it was a good transition, honestly.
Why didn’t you choose a specialized insurance license, for example, a recommended license, manager, or underwriter in insurance?
Unfortunately, in Paris, it didn’t exist, I believe; also, since banks sell insurance products, for me, the ideal was to have a dual role. Insurers also market banking products, as we can see with AXA Bank.
Now that you have finished your studies, what are you doing?
I am currently in Dubai. I am there to improve my English and Arabic skills to be able to target a broader clientele. I don’t plan to work in Dubai at the moment, but soon.
Do you think you’ll do insurance all your life?
Wow, that’s a very good question; honestly, I can’t answer right now.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
Not at all, unfortunately. I have learned that a career plan doesn’t mean much, especially in large companies and our sector. It’s more about acquiring the most skills and qualifications to be eligible for important positions and to grow quickly.
I hope the testimonial from this student currently pursuing a master’s in finance has shown you a possible path after the BTS Insurance.
