Témoignage 19 : Student in BTS Insurance who studied for a STMG baccalaureate

Partager

Student who completed an STMG baccalaureate with an euro section and HR option. Find the testimonial of a student currently in BTS Insurance.

What were you doing before the BTS? What grade are you in? What type of institution? (High school, CNED…)

I am currently undergoing training in banking and insurance, but before that, I obtained an STMG (Science and Technology of Management and Administration) baccalaureate in an euro section with the HR (Human Resources) option.

Why did you choose the insurance sector? What interests you?

I chose this sector because the activities are very broad. It is also a very diversified sector, so it’s possible to change professions while staying within insurance.

Are you in alternating training or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual)

I am currently in alternating training at a mutual insurance company. I hold the position of mutualist advisor.

What advice would you give to a student wanting to start studies in insurance?

My only advice would be “Hang in there,” because in my opinion, it’s a quite complex BTS. Stick mainly at the beginning because everything you learn is new, but over time and with practice, it will get much easier.

Did you encounter difficulties when you started? (in class and in the company) Which ones?

I had difficulties initially adapting to the world of the company. I also struggled with the rhythm of alternating school and work, as it was a new mode of learning.

<h2 Do you think you will do insurance all your life? Why?

No, I don’t plan to do insurance for my entire life; I want to explore other fields like social work, for example.

Was there a big change between high school and the BTS?

Yes, I noticed a change — in BTS, you are more autonomous. You are an adult, and there is less supervision than in high school. It prepares you for the professional world.

Do you find BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?

The most difficult thing I find is Claims Management!!

It’s difficult because you must know the calculation methods, and to score the most points, you need to learn a lot of articles of law from the insurance code or the Civil Code.

What type of student are you? (Not studying much with ease, studying a lot, studying little…)

Average student haha I study without studying too much, but now I’m trying to work hard.

Do you have any tips for studying your courses better?

Without a doubt: organization!

If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?

I don’t know yet…
