Testimonial 20 : Student in BTS Insurance who took a BTS STMG baccalaureate
He gives you all his advice to succeed in BTS Assurance after a STMG baccalaureate
What were you doing before the BTS? Which class are you in? In what type of establishment? (High school, CNED…)
Before entering the BTS Assurance, I obtained a STMG baccalaureate in a high school.
Why did you choose the insurance world? What interests you?
I chose the insurance world because there is a wide range of careers in this field. There are many job opportunities and potential career advancement.
Are you in work-study or initial training? And in what type of company are you? (general agent, broker, mutual insurance)
I am pursuing my BTS in initial training, meaning I will do an internship period. I am doing my internship at an insurance general agent’s agency.
What advice would you give to a student wanting to pursue insurance studies?
I recommend doing discovery internships first if possible, as it will help you form an opinion about insurance. To work in insurance, you really need to love this field; it shouldn’t be chosen by default. In the case of a default choice, there is a high chance you won’t like it.
Did you encounter any difficulties when you started? (in classes and at work) Which ones?
I entered the BTS the year after the reform was implemented. This reform changed the main subjects like personal insurance, EEJMA, and property and liability insurance. The professional subjects (insurance) became a bit unclear for teachers and students, and it is also a subject that I find too heavy in terms of content.
Do you think you will work in insurance all your life? Why?
Yes, I think I will stay in insurance my whole life because it’s a field that I really enjoy.

Découvrir l'E-bookHas there been a big change between high school and the BTS?
No, I haven’t seen a big change moving from one to the other. It’s quite similar.
Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
The most difficult subject in my opinion is professional culture and client follow-up, because the program in this subject is very diverse. We go from law to economics, from management to financial math, so in the exam, we don’t know what to expect.
What type of student are you? (Not too much reviewing, revising a lot, revising little…)
I am a student who reviews a little with some ease in certain subjects.
Do you have any tips for better learning your courses?
The best advice I can give is to understand the course in your own words. You should try to explain the course in the simplest way possible, and it will come naturally.
If you continue your studies, in what would you like to specialize?
If I continue my studies, I want to specialize in the digital insurance, because it is a developing field.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
I would like to work abroad to discover new cultures.
