Témoignage 24 : Student in Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance

What are you doing now? What has been your academic journey?

After obtaining my Baccalaureate, I decided to enroll in a BTS INSURANCE course, alternately, with a brokerage company. I graduated with an average of 12. Today, I am pursuing a Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, at a Faculty of Law, Economic Sciences, and Management.

Why did you choose the insurance industry? What interests you?

I discovered the insurance world after completing an internship with a renowned company; it immediately interested me, so I decided to continue on this path.

Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual insurance)

I am entering my third year of work-study with an insurance brokerage company.

What would you advise to a student wanting to get into insurance studies?

I would advise them to learn the basics of insurance quickly but simply, so they can find their way around.

Did you encounter any difficulties when you started? (in classes and at work) Which ones?

At first, it’s not necessarily easy to keep up with the courses and revisions; moreover, starting out in work-study isn’t simple; you need to manage the pace.

Do you think you will do insurance all your life? Why?

Yes, I plan to pursue my professional future in the insurance field; there are 1000 different careers, and it’s a very interesting and rewarding field.

Has there been a big change between high school and higher education?

Yes, naturally the level evolves, but it remains enriching.

What was the hardest part of your academic journey? (subjects, integration into a company…)

The most difficult is following the most complex subjects; in a company, the integration period can sometimes be delicate.

What type of student are you? (not revising much with ease, studying a lot, studying little…)

I am a student who needs to read my courses regularly to learn.

Do you have any tips for better learning your courses?

You need to read regularly, preferably in the evening.

If you continue your studies, in what area would you like to specialize?

I would like to specialize in Insurance Law.

Do you already have an ideal career plan?

After my Bachelor’s degree, I hope my level will allow me to pursue a Master’s, then become a Legal Advisor in Insurance Mediation, for example.
