This is the testimonial of a student currently in BTS Insurance with a dream to create her own insurance company.
What were you doing before the BTS? What grade are you in? In what type of school? (High school, CNED…)
Before my BTS, I completed a final year S in high school.
Why did you choose the insurance world? What interests you?
I chose the insurance world because I wanted to work in an office, and insurance in general interests me a lot, especially since I started.
Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual)
I am in a work-study program with an insurance broker.
What advice would you give to a student wanting to pursue insurance studies?
I would advise them to do it through work-study if possible, and above all, to stay committed, because when you love what you do, it’s really an interesting field.
Did you encounter any difficulties when you started? (in classes and in the company) Which ones?
No, I don’t have any particular difficulties. Apart from the claims management courses, which seem quite complex to me.
Do you think you will do insurance all your life? Why?
I have no idea at all. I would definitely like to start my own business anyway.
Was there a big change between high school and the BTS?
Yes, because we only have essential courses, and these courses can be useful in everyday life, which is very interesting. Since I come from a Bac S, I no longer have the same subjects, no more history or physics, which is much better for me.
Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
No, it’s not difficult. When you want to, you can. If you make no effort, it’s normal for difficulties to increase.
What type of student are you? (Not revising too much with ease, studying a lot, studying little…)
I am a serious student, even more so since I am in BTS. I make a lot of revision notes, and I go over all the exercises we’ve seen in class carefully. I pay close attention in class, which helps me a lot. Listening is a big part of learning, so don’t neglect it.
Do you have any advice for better learning your lessons?
- Listening carefully is already the first thing to do.
- Highlight the really essential sentences
- Make summary sheets.
- And most importantly, do many exercises! Nothing beats practice.
If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?
I just want to get my BTS in insurance; I don’t plan to do a license.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
I would like to start my own insurance company or become a manager or expert.
