Here is the testimonial of a student who obtained the highest level of diploma in the insurance field: a master’s 2
What were you doing before the BTS? What grade are you in? In what type of establishment? (High school, CNED…)
I completed an ES Baccalaureate at a private high school. I then completed a BTS in Insurance
Why did you choose the insurance world? What interests you?
It was pure chance, without strong conviction at first. I didn’t like school or the education system itself. The work-study program was a way for me to continue studying, providing the practical side that I have always missed. Following that, I became ‘passionate’ about the civil liability branch, which links the social/human, economic, and legal aspects.
Are you in work-study or initial training? And what type of company are you in? (general agent, broker, mutual insurance)
I was in a work-study program for 5 years at an insurance company.
What advice would you give to a student wanting to start insurance studies?
Insurance is a field that doesn’t seem very glamorous on the surface and even a bit rigid. But once you’re in it, you realize that insurance underpins our private and professional lives in all its forms. You realize its usefulness, its richness, its diversity, and even the benefits that insurance brings to people in distress.
Did you encounter any difficulties when you started? (in class and at the company) Which ones?
No… I don’t believe I faced real difficulties. However, insurance is so rich in professions that it’s possible we don’t find our path right away. It’s important to explore all the areas of work.
Do you think you will do insurance your whole life? Why?
Yes, I think I will do it all my life because it’s a field that combines two principles I love:
- social/human aspect, economic
- legal side
Was there a big change between high school and the BTS?
A major change was definitely in autonomy. Another important point is the practical application of the apprenticeship. When transitioning from classes to the workplace, you can put many notions into practice and integrate them, which naturally seems useful.
Do you find the BTS difficult? Which subjects do you find hard? And why do you find them difficult?
The BTS is difficult because everything is new. These are concepts never encountered in the educational pathway. Nevertheless, by following a methodology and a steady learning routine, I find that it’s not insurmountable.
What kind of student are you? (Not revising much and relying on ease, revising a lot, revising little…)
I am a student who studies a lot.
Do you have any tips to better learn your courses?
Making summary sheets, methodology sheets especially for case studies.
If you continue your studies, what would you like to specialize in?
I just finished my MASTER 2 in management, digital and insurance careers.
Do you already have an ideal career plan?
I wish to become a Corporate Liability Underwriter
Do you have anything to add?
Thank you for creating Aide BTS Assurance.
