Témoignage 5 : Student in Insurance BTS

Here is the testimonial of a student currently in second year of BTS Assurance who completed a law degree.

What grade are you in? What were you doing before joining the BTS?

I am in 2nd year of BTS Assurance. Before joining the BTS, I was pursuing a law degree.

Why did you choose to pursue a BTS assurance after a law degree?

Because I didn’t directly focus on insurance, so I had to find an option that looked similar to it.

What interests you in insurance?

I like insurance because of the many careers possible, and plus, my mother works in insurance. I have always been interested in insurance.

Where did you do your internship periods? Did you have trouble finding your internship?

I worked at the headquarters of MAAF in Niort, at the AXA headquarters in Nanterre, and at Pro BTP in Orléans. I had a lot of difficulty finding placements, which is why I worked at several companies.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a BTS Assurance?

I would advise having a vehicle and not having geographical barriers to be able to find an internship.

Did you encounter any difficulties when you started the BTS?

No, no real difficulties; these were new subjects, so new things to learn, but nothing too complicated in itself.

Is there a subject that caused you more problems than the others? Do you have a favorite subject?

The subject that caused me the most problems is claims management. My favorite subject is customer relations and claims.

Do you find the BTS generally difficult?

For people who do not work from home, it can seem tough (that’s the case for some people in my class). But if you work regularly, it goes well, at least in my case.

What kind of student are you?

I took advantage of my ease in the first year (I had an overall average of 14), but in the second year, it didn’t pay off as much (12 in the first semester), so I am starting to work, but it’s quite hard.

Do you plan to specialize later? Do you intend to continue your studies?

I plan to specialize in internal audit. I want to continue my studies, and I have already started preparing my applications.

Do you have an ideal career plan?

Ideally, start working at AXA in La Défense, and then we will see where it takes us.
