Better organize, better revise, and better understand your lessons—here are the tips to know how to succeed in your BTS Assurance.

How to better organize yourself ?

First and foremost, it is imperative to set up a schedule for yourself.

Create a schedule

In this schedule, you will define a time for each activity. It’s a simple task to set up, but for some people, it will be difficult to stick to it.

The most important thing at the beginning is to respect the time slots you have set: imposing a time limit on yourself will make you more efficient, and it can be beneficial for your future exams.

Creating a schedule will give you many skills such as being organized and managing your time.

Make a to-do list

If at first, this system doesn’t suit you, I advise you to start by making a list of things to do. Once you are able to complete all your daily and weekly goals, the schedule will work much better, for sure.

The best is to plan your week by preparing it during the weekend, for example. Developing a schedule will take you at most 10 minutes, so try to do it every week.

Be consistent

Try to be consistent: consistency will help you be more effective over the long term.

I recommend putting your schedule in your phone (in the calendar), and setting reminders at the start of each activity.

How to revise effectively without memorizing by heart ?

Let’s start with learning definitions:

Never memorize long definitions by heart; the most important thing is that you understand what the definition really means.

Try to rephrase with your own words.

For my part, to remember a definition, I try to retain only the keywords of the definition.

For example, for the definition of growth:

According to the Larousse, growth is: “an increase over a long period of time of the production and characteristic dimensions of a country’s economy, reflected by an increase in disposable income. (The most commonly used indicator to measure growth is the gross domestic product [GDP], or the gross national product [GNP], calculated in constant prices to eliminate inflation effects.)”

This is a definition that you should not memorize by heart.

For this definition, I will retain the keywords as follows:

  • long period
  • increase
  • GDP

With these 3 words, it’s possible to reconstruct a sentence that corresponds to the definition since the keywords will be present.

How to learn and better understand your lessons ?

At the end of each day, try to write down what you retained on a sheet for each subject.

This work will allow you to see what you have acquired and what remains to be deepened. It will also help you explain what you’ve understood in your own words.

The people who learn the best are those who can explain a course clearly and concisely. The best learning is teaching.

The must is to be able to make your courses understandable to someone with no prior knowledge. If you can do that, it means you master the subject really well.

To deepen your knowledge, try to make revision flashcards at the end of each chapter for each subject. This work will help you remember the most important things to learn and be as concise and precise as possible during your exams.

How to learn your lessons without constantly staring into your books ?

Never stay more than 1 hour straight on your lessons.

Doing so will slow down your learning process and make you dislike studying.

The technique I used is very simple: it works for revising several subjects. I studied for 30 minutes or even 45 minutes at most.

After this revision time, I took a small break of 5-10 minutes to go drink or eat something.

I especially advise against using your phone during this break, so to avoid distraction, put it in airplane mode and turn the screen away.

After this break, I start revising another subject.

So I revised another subject for 30-45 minutes, followed by a small break without a phone if possible.

At the end of the second break, I took a sheet and tried to write down what I retained from the first subject I reviewed. Then, I took another sheet to note what I retained from the second subject.

This practice will bring you a lot. You will develop your long-term memory. Because some revise a chapter and then write down what they retained, which helps their short-term memory develop — but that’s not what is needed for exams.

This technique will help you write what you understood in your own words.

How to avoid school burnout ?

Try to do sports as much as possible throughout the day; it will help you change your mind and, if you do competitive sports, it will give you better stress management and fear control.

The problem for most students is that they struggle to manage their stress and fear of failure.

So, do some sport, preferably in competition, to make your fear of failure disappear and better manage your stress.

If you’re not very sporty, you can do something that will relax you like reading, taking a bath…

This part is just as important, if not more, than the previous ones, because your health is at stake. If you lack health, you can do nothing in life.

How to stay motivated ?

Set goals for yourself

To avoid losing your motivation, set yourself one or several goals, like passing your exams ?

Set achievable goals and break them down into steps to achieve them. You don’t have to set big goals; for example, it could be revising one chapter per day.

To keep them always in mind, I recommend marking them on sticky notes that you stick on a mirror you often look at, so you keep them in mind.

Things to really remember

  • Don’t stay too long staring into your lessons.
  • Take breaks.
  • Make a schedule for each day.
  • Be consistent in your actions.
  • Develop your long-term memory.
  • Don’t set too many goals so you can achieve them all.
  • Manage your fears and stress.
  • Be aware of your abilities.

Now you know how to succeed in your BTS Assurance. All you have to do is put these tips into action.

How to stay motivated?

Track your progress and visualize your advancement

Maintaining regular tracking of your progress is an excellent way to stay motivated. Record each completed chapter or exercise in a notebook, a task management app, or a progress chart. By visualizing the tasks already done, you can see your work’s progress concretely, which gives you a sense of accomplishment right away. You can also create a graph or a dashboard to observe how your progress evolves over the long term. This tracking method motivates you to continue because it shows that every effort contributes to your final goal.

Celebrate every small victory

Set small goals and celebrate their achievement; it’s essential to keep your morale high. Reward yourself after each milestone: it could be a particularly challenging chapter, a successful test, or a week of intensive revision completed. The reward might be going out with friends, enjoying a nice meal, taking a special break, or doing a relaxing activity. Taking the time to savor these successes turns each step into a source of satisfaction, breaking the monotony of studying and helping you stay positive throughout.

Reconnect regularly with your final objectives

During intensive revision periods, it’s easy to lose sight of the ultimate purpose of your efforts. To sustain constant motivation, spend a few minutes each day or week reminding yourself why you are pursuing this diploma. Identify the opportunities and benefits that success could bring — whether getting your dream job, building a rewarding career, or achieving financial stability. You can even display your final goals on a board or sticky notes to keep them in mind. Reconnecting with your aspirations strengthens your commitment and adds more meaning to your efforts.

Choosing the right BTS

The first key to success lies in selecting your BTS. This is where you should start, even if later you can apply the rest of our advice. Indeed, a quality pedagogical support will help you better approach your studies and thereby succeed in the final exam. Furthermore, the reputation of the chosen BTS will open doors for job applications. It’s therefore not a decision to be made randomly or based on location. We will help you choose where to study.

So, you need to investigate the quality of the teaching team and what is put in place to lead you to success in your BTS. You can do this by visiting the BTS website, but also by attending open house days. Talking with teachers and students is always very insightful. For example, to give yourself the means to succeed in your BTS with Horizon School in Strasbourg, click on this link and also check the dates of open house days.

You can also inquire about apprenticeships, to gain professional experience during your studies, with this Higher School in Strasbourg. Again, it can help you find a job more easily while earning some money to finance your studies.
